We were so sorry to learn that 3 year old Nastia, who was part of our Community Care Programme in Minsk, has passed away.

Stefanya was an orphan that our Babyheart medical team operated on during our mission to Kharkiv, Ukraine in February, 2013. Stefanya has Down Syndrome and a severe congenital heart defect.

On Saturday 1 June 2013 Adi Roche received a call to say that a freak lightening storm in Belarus has left devastation. A massive bolt of lightening struck the . The boys are safe but deeply traumatised by the event and the loss of their long dreamed of home. They are temporarily evacuated to the already severely overcrowded units in the main institution.

Chernobyl Children International would like to congratulate Cirán O'Connell. Ciarán is a 16 year old 5th Year student in Pobail Scoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare, Co Kerry, Ireland. His wonderful short story 'The Chernobyl Tree' has just been awarded 3rd Prize at Listowel Writers Week Festival. Congratulations Ciarán! His story is attached and well worth a read. Ciarán hauntingly yet beautifully captures the emptiness and destruction of life as a result of the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster...

Chernobyl Children International would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Nicola, Benny & Cliona at The Bodega Cork for organizing ‘Spring Style in the City’ which took place on Friday 26 April. The fundraiser was a fantastic day with food, fashion and fun. Thank you for thinking of the charity. Many Thanks also to our MC for the day Amanda Brunker, Emer & Vivienne and all the Lockdown Models, all who donated raffle and auction prizes and all who attended and supported the fundraiser. Friday 26 April marks the 27th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. We honour the memory of all those who have suffered the devastating impact of the disaster on health, the environment and more particularly its affect on children.

Plans are underway for the 2013 Dublin to Wexford Cycle which takes place on Saturday 28 September, from Pottery Road Dublin to Wexford town.

The Chernobyl Cycle Cork to Kilkenny takes place again this year on Sat 01 and Sun 02 June. The annual cycle, is in memory of Mary Slattery and all proceeds go to Chernobyl Kilkenny Outreach Group.
