Adi Roche pays tribute to Paul Newman

Monday, 29th September 2008

Adi Roche paid tribute to Paul Newman whose death occured over the weekend. Adi said of Paul today 'Our world is poorer for the loss of Paul Newman. However, he has left a legacy that will live on in his name. He was an advocate for the underprivileged and spoke out fearlessly on many issues but most particularly for the rights of children. He had a strong sense of responsibility because of his iconic status and he felt honour-bound to use it to the betterment of others.

He once said ''What can be better than to hold your hand out to others less fortunate than you are''. Paul Newman embraced the children of Chernobyl into the warmth and hospitality of his Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Barrettstown since its inception and brought joy and happiness to countless children all over the world. His was a life well lived and he leaves us stronger in our commitment to making our world a better place. May he rest in peace'.
