Cork Art Fair 2008 in aid of CCPI

Cork's fourth annual contemporary Art Fair took place in City Hall from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September. The Exhibition featured a fantastic range of original paintings and sculpture from artists and galleries from all over Ireland and abroad. The Fair went from strength to strength since it started in 2005 with over 60 different exhibitors, to provide a feast for the eyes! Last year's Cork Art Fair saw over 3,000 art lovers visit Cork City Hall over the three days and this year promises to draw as many people. This year there was a very special preview evening in aid of Chernobyl Children's Project International (CCPI). The evening featured a Reception with Adi Roche and an auction hosted by Morgan O'Driscoll, Skibbereen, of the work of Matt Lamb, Joby Hicky, Karen Wilson, Majella O'Neill Collins, Ken Browne and Jo Ashby. All funds raised on the evening went to the Cardiac Programme of CCPI. Local artists such as Philip Gray, Barbara Barrett and Georgina Harte exhibited among many others. |
Local galleries most notably The Warren Gallery is renowned for representing high profile artists Matt Lamb and Sean Scully.. There were also exhibitors from all over Ireland such as Brigid Shelly, Chris McMorrow and Mary Pickering as well as international galleries from as far and wide as Thailand and Mongolia.
