Cardiac surgeon Dr William Novick MD honoured by Ukraine

Dr. Novick, the lead cardiac surgeon on Chernobyl Children's Project International's child cardiac programme, received the high honour of Ukraine's Orden Medal in a ceremony at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington DC on December 29th. Chernobyl Children's Project International plans to send volunteer surgical teams to Ukraine 4 - 6 times in 2010, where they will perform free operations on children and train local physicians. Every year in Ukraine, 6000 children are born with genetic heart defects. Over one half of them will not get the surgery they need to survive and will die.

Warm heartfelt welcome for Chernobyl children into Dublin

Over 80 children from the most disadvantaged areas in the Chernobyl-affected regions arrived into Dublin on Tuesday 22nd December to be reunited with their Irish host families for Christmas. The children are part of Chernobyl Children's Project International vital Long-term Care Programme. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the individuals and companies who very generously donated and supported our Christmas Gift Appeal.

Students make outstanding effort for Santa Cycle

Over the last four days, 82 transition year students braved the elements dressed in full Santa gear to complete a gruelling 4 day cycle from Dublin to Cork via Killarney in a bid to raise funds for the Chernobyl Children’s Project and Gaisce - The President’s Award. The great fundraising initiative is part of their ‘7 steps programme’ which has been introduced to schools in Ireland for the 1st time this year.
