Grand Slam Signed Jersey Auction for CCPI Galway

The Galway Outreach Group of Volunteers, Camp Claddagh, is planning to bring 30 children into Galway for the month of July and to help them raise funds they are auctioning a signed Grand Slam Jersey. The Jersey is signed by the entire Irish Squad that recently won the Grand Slam for the first time in sixty one years. It was signed after the recent win over England. "It's a unique item of memorabilia, but the funds raised from the sale will also be used for something unique," said Fiona Conneely, Group Leader of Camp Claddagh.

Kilkenny Volunteer Group organise Fun Cycle

The Kilkenny Group of Chernobyl Children's Project International are currently organising their annual Fun Cycle from Cork to Kilkenny. The route will take cyclists from Cork to Kilkenny, with an overnight stay in the Dungarvan Park Hotel. The event takes place on Saturday 30th May and Sunday 31st May over two days. Last year's cycle was a huge success raising over 26,000 for the Kilkenny Group of Chernobyl Children's Project International. This year the group hopes to increase the number of participants and are calling on all cyclists in the South East who have access to a bicycle to join in in what will be guaranteed to be yet another enjoyable fundraising event! Anaesthetic machine successfully delivered to Gomel Regional Hospital

As a result of Jim Fahy's documentary 'The Children Beyond Chernobyl' and through the extreme generosity and dedicated support of the Irish people, Chernobyl Children's Project International recently raised vital funds to purchase and deliver a much-needed anaesthetic machine for the Gomel Regional Hospital in Belarus. This machine means many children can now undergo tonsillectomies under anaesthesia. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who made this possible.

Annual Conference 2009 in Kilkenny

The 2009 CCPI Annual Conference took place at the Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny on Saturday 24th January 2009. There were very informative updates on the programme work of CCPI delivered in the morning session and Adi Roche delivered the Opening Address. The Afternoon session was opened by the Ukrainian Ambassador who addressed the audience, followed by Dr Novick, the internationally-renowned cardiac surgeon who also appeared in the CCPI Oscar-winning documentary 'Chernobyl Heart'. Liz O'Donnell (ex TD and new Board Member of CCPI) and Ali Hewson, Board Member CCPI were also in attendance. It was an excellent event for networking and sharing stories and experiences amongst friends, volunteers, supporters of the charity.

The Ocean to City - An Ras More is due to take place in county Cork, Ireland on Saturday 30th of May 2009 - starting in RCYC Crosshaven and finishing at City Quarter, Lapps Quay, Cork city. The race is a unique and exciting race organised by Meitheal Mara, Cork's Traditional Boat Builders and is open to traditional and fixed seat rowing boats and follows a 15 miles course from Crosshaven to the historical centre of Cork.
