Support National Chernobyl Week 2010

Monday, 26th April 2010 will mark the 24th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. In recognition of this anniversary, Chernobyl Children’s Project International will once again roll out National Chernobyl Week (26th April to 2nd May) to commemorate and honour the children and adults who live with the social, economic and medical deprivation as a result of the disaster which happened 24 years ago.
Photographer recieves award for CCPI exhibition

Photographer Eamon Ward has recieved 'Honourable Mention' for the poignant images taken during a recent visit to Belarus with CCPI. The prestigious award was granted by the Center Santa Fe Review in New Mexico, USA. Eamon travelled to Belarus with Adi Roche, CEO, CCPI, Rose of Tralee, Charmaine Kenny and a team of volunteers to visit some of CCPI's major projects. They visited key medical and nursing programmes, orphanages and institutions and foster homes in the poorest areas of Belarus. CCPI would like to congratulate Eamon for recieving such high recognition for his moving images.

Lifestyle Sports adidas Trainer Scrappage Scheme to benefit CCPI
Chernobyl Children’s Project International is delighted to announce the launch of the Lifestyle Sports adidas Trainer Scrappage Scheme in over 65 stores throughout Ireland. This novel initiative allows people to trade in their old trainers at Lifestyle Sports stores across Ireland in preparation for the Lifestyle Sports adidas Race Series 2010. The Scrappage scheme rewards participants with a 25% discount off a new pair of adidas Supernova or Response trainers. adidas will process the collected trainers through their recycling system and donate an estimated 1,000 pairs of trainers to the Chernobyl Children’s Project International. In addition to the trainers, Lifestyle Sports will donate tracksuits & t-shirts, valued at €30,000, to the charity.
Sergeant DJ O'Dwyer breaks world record
Sergeant DJ O'Dwyer successfully broke the world record and undertook a 28 hour non-stop Rowathon at the University of Limerick on Friday, 19th March. The effort was part of the Garda Community Engagement in Action programme. DJ is raising funds for the CCPI Home of Hope programme, which deinstitutionalizes children in Belarus – this means that up to 10 previously institutionalized or abandoned children can now at last have a home of their own.
