New Zealand Guitar Marathon Raised Funds for CCPI

Friday, 22nd August 2008

Auckland musician Stephen Galvin played guitar continuously for fifty-four hours from Friday 25th April 2008 at dawn to Sunday afternoon on the 27th. The event held at a Meadowbank Auckland address was timed to mark Anzac Day, Chernobyl day, and Easter for the Orthodox church and raise funds for the medical care of children affected by the Chernobyl disaster. It drew many local well-wishers and members of the Russian and Yugoslav communities. Asked about the event Stephen said, "It is fantastic that so many people could come together for this special time. Music brings us together. We are very happy to be able to provide some humanitarian aid for the medical care of young people affected by the Chernobyl disaster and at the same time to celebrate our life in a positive way.
