Summer Rest & Recuperation 2008

On Sunday 24th August, the last flight with Summer Rest & Recuperation children will leave Shannon for Minsk. Many volunteer host families will wave sad goodbyes to the children they have hosted this summer. We would like to thank all of our volunteer families and Outreach Group Committees who continue to make the Programme so successful. Also this summer over 200 children attended In-Country Summer Camps in Belarus. Many Community Care children and children from Vesnova Children's Mental Asylum attended the camps.

Petrikov Day Care Centre to get new extension

Petrikov Day Care Centre will get a new extension in April 2009. CCPI Volunteer Niall Kennedy and Fergal Flavin are travelling to Belarus to finalise the project plans and prepare for the work which will take place with the help of valuable funds from Pfizer Ireland.

New Terraced Homes for the 'Two Sashas'

The new Terraced 'Homes of Hope' will be finished on the grounds of Vesnovo in October, in time for the 'Two Sashas' to at last have a home of their own. The two boys were about to be moved to an adult institution, when Chernobyl Children's Project International lobbied on their behalf to have a home of their own in the grounds of Vesnovo. The Sashas became famous for their part in the HBO 'Chernobyl Heart' documentary. Follow their story again in the latest RTE Documentary to be broadcast in September. Pfizers Golf Classic for Chernobyl

On Thursday 24th July, over 40 teams battled it out on Monkstown Golf Course to hold the winning trophy. Niall Kennedy did tremendous work in making the fundraising event a success. Niall seen with the winning team below. Thank you to all the golfers who supported the event.

New Dental Programme for Vesnovo and Soltanovka

NEW DENTAL PROGRAMME A new Dental Programme will be rolled out in Vesnovo and Soltanovka in August. A team headed up by Teresa Cronin and Mary Sugrue will travel to Belarus to assist in providing dental care and oral hygiene instruction to the children and adults living in these institutions.
