Ali Hewson Board Member CCPI abseils from Ireland's tallest building

Ali Hewson, Board Member, Chernobyl Children's Project International joined over 50 student Gardai from the Garda College Templemore to abseil down the Elysian on Saturday 30th May to raise funds for a 'Home of Hope' for Olga and Kristina. The Elysian is the tallest building in Ireland and stands at an impressive 83 metres and 17 storeys high. Ali Hewson said 'Student Gardai organised this abseil to raise funds so that Olga and Kristina who came to Ireland unable to walk, can return to Belarus and walk into a real home - a 'Home of Hope. If a lot of people can give a little it can mean so much'.

National Chernobyl Week 2009 a huge success

Sunday 26th April 2009 marked the 23rd Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. In recognition of this anniversary, Chernobyl Children's Project International rolled out National Chernobyl Week from Monday 20th April 2009 to commemorate and honour the children and adults who continue to live with the social, economic and medical deprivation as a result of the disaster which happened 23 years ago. CCPI would like to thank all the volunteers nationwide who sold Charity Pins in towns, cities and villages across Ireland during this week.

Krystina & Olya Medical Care Fund

Two very special girls, Krystina and Olya from Vesnova Children's Mental Asylum in Belarus are in Ireland for critical medical care. The girls have just left Cappagh Hospital in Dublin having received expert care from the surgical and nursing staff there last week. Chernobyl Children's Project International would like to say a very special thank you to the team of carers, nurses and physiotherapists who continue to look after the girls. Krystina will unfortunately need further serious surgery in the coming weeks and months. Olya is recovering very well from her surgery and was joking and laughing hours after her operation!
