What is a Taste Festival?
Taste Festivals Ireland present the most glamorous, exciting food and drink event of the year. Stunning food prepared by world famous chefs and restaurants, superb drink and outstanding entertainment set in two of Ireland's most stunning cities. In June 2006, the inaugural 'Taste of Dublin' was launched in Dublin Castle, sponsored by Oceanico Group, and attracted a sell-out crowd of 15,000 visitors. Due to this outstanding success the event relocated to the beautiful setting of the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin 2 where in June 2007, Taste of Dublin welcomed over 25,000 visitors. After two successful Taste of Dublin events, the overwhelming demand for the event to progress nationally has resulted in Taste of Cork, being staged at the superb Cork City Gaol and Heritage Centre this summer from June 27th to June 29th.
Taste of Cork 2008 will add a new exciting dimensions to Taste Festivals Ireland, which has been widely welcomed by restaurateurs, food professionals and lovers of great food. Oceanico Group proudly extends their headline sponsorship to include Taste of Cork 2008.
Taste of Cork is a culmination of everything the county has to offer for food connoisseurs. Cork's food heritage is truly extensive from it's organic gourmet to the slow food movement and most famously the Allen Family, Cork is truly a food lovers dream.

How Does the event work?
The philosophy behind Taste Festivals is simple: Taste bring together top local restaurants representing their food by providing sample sized signature dishes, starters, mains and desserts from their specially designed restaurant stands within the event. These dishes are available to purchase with the Taste Currency, called 'Florins' sponsored by Anglo Irish Bank. A Floin is equal to 1 Euro and it is the only form of currency accepted within the event. Dishes are priced between 5-8 Florins. The social aspect of the event is enhanced by champagne and cocktail feature bars, with alcholic beverages starting from 4 Florins. You can purchase produce and buy gift items to take away from over 60 hand-picked speciality food, drink and lifestyle exhibitors for sampling.
You'll have the rare opportunity to watch expert chefs in action at the Chef Demonstration Theatre, take part in tutored tasting sessions during the seminars at the Wine Academy and observe the art of mixology in the talented hands of the Cocktail Academy masters.
