Volunteer
“It is in the shadow of each other that we truly live”
Traditional Irish saying)
We have Volunteer Outreach Groups located throughout Ireland and in Northern Ireland who first and foremost raise funds the whole year round for the countless victims of the world’s worst nuclear disaster, and secondly bring the children from the contaminated zones to Ireland for vital health care, rest and recuperation. Through our programmes, our goal is to alleviate suffering and in the process to say very loud and clear, “Brothers and sisters, your plight and pain are not forgotten”.
Many of our volunteers operate through the organisation’s network of Volunteer Outreach Groups, others through charity and social clubs operated by their employers. Others have become involved in CCPI’s various building projects and medical programmes offering their skills, expertise and their time free of charge.
CCPI have also built strong links with schools throughout Ireland who undertake various fundraising activities for CCPI. The students and teachers in this ever-increasing network of schools have taken the cause of the children of Chernobyl to their hearts, ensuring that they have not been forgotten by the people of Ireland. The generosity of these volunteers is a shining example of the power of humanitarianism.
The spirit of volunteerism is a vital element in the success of the Chernobyl Children’s Project International permeating, as it does, every level and every activity of the organisation from the socially aware student up to the Board of Directors. Our ability to continue our work is due in no small amount to the commitment of such caring people.
As a result of their continued support, our work continues to make a huge difference for the better. This spirit of volunteerism will continue to play a strong role in Chernobyl Children’s Project International and in the organisation’s future development. It is because of the energy, compassion and commitment of our volunteers that we have been able to improve the quality of life of so many children.
Giving away your time, your energy, your money, your concern for the sake of another person, someone you don’t even know, in a land your have never travelled to that indeed is true love, true Christianity in practice, and the return profit of peace and happiness in your life will be beyond your wildest dreams.
The Chernobyl Children’s Project International is fortunate to be able to call upon the services and voluntary efforts of thousands of volunteers who are committed to the aims and objectives of the organisation and who work tirelessly on behalf of the children of Chernobyl. They have risen to the cry for help and give their time, effort and money, but they also give their love. They are the backbone of CCPI. They give helping hands as host families, doctors, nurses, builders, care and general assistants, chefs, drivers and fundraisers. Without them, we would not have achieved so much.
