Life Saving Operations
The Long Term Medical Care Programme would not, of course, be possible without the co-operation and support of Irish health care professionals who have responded so willingly to the Project's appeals for help. The specialist medical care given to the children by Irish medical teams in Irish hospitals has been of a uniformly high standard.
The Long Term Care Programme continues to be one of the cornerstones of the work of CCPI and is the organisation's unique response to a pressing problem that is the lack of specialist medical care for those children who continue to suffer the harmful effects of the Chernobyl explosion. Indeed, given the lasting impact of the Chernobyl explosion and the heightened susceptibility of the very young to radiation exposure the need for the Long Term Care Programme is unlikely to diminish, and may perhaps even increase in the foreseeable future.
