What We Do

The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty in the world to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education for all, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. Developed in partnership with the United Nations, they have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.

These Goals are as follows:

Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education

Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women

Goal 4: Reduce child poverty

Goal 5: Improve maternal health

Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases

Goal 7: Ensure environmental stability

Goal 8: Develop a Global Partnership for Development
