What You Can Do

Making a Legacy to Chernobyl Children’s Project International

Remembering Chernobyl Children’s Project International in your Will is an effective and lasting way of supporting the work of the charity.

With your help CCPI can:

-    Continue to save the lives of children born with the heart defect, ‘Chernobyl Heart’ by sending volunteer teams of Cardiac Surgeons to Belarus and the Ukraine

-    Continue to provide much-needed medical care to the children in Vesnova Children’s Mental Asylum and other institutions

-    Continue to provide expert medical care training for nursing, care assistants and therapeutic care staff as part of the development of the Medical Care Programme

-    Purchase houses through the CCPI ‘Homes of Hope’ Programme which provides loving homes for previously institutionalised children. CCPI places up to 10 children in each home, these children live within a loving environment with caring foster parents

-    Provide educational training and development programmes for teenagers under the ‘Home of Hope’ Programme, allowing them to live independently, undertake life-skills training, therapeutic sports activities and vocational workshops

-    Build new Day Care Centres in the most impoverished areas of Belarus

-    Continue to provide refurbishments and repairs to orphanages and institutions on an ongoing basis

-    Continue to bring children to Ireland for much-needed rest and recuperation

Legacies:

The Chernobyl disaster has left a legacy of hardship and hopelessness for the children of Chernobyl, this is a legacy that will continue for many years to come. When making a Will it is always important to provide for the people you love. By also remembering the children of Chernobyl, you will be giving a unique gift of hope. You will leave a truly positive legacy and make an incredible difference to the lives of children throughout the Chernobyl regions. CCPI is a member of Legacy Promotion Ireland, for more information please click here.

To follow are some of the options open to you:

Have you already made a Will?

If you have already made a Will, but would like to leave a gift to CCPI, you can do so by making a simple addition to your existing Will. This is called a Codicil.

Are you about to make a Will?

If you do not have a Will at the moment, you may need to see a solicitor. Although you may have to pay a fee, you will receive sound professional advice and can be sure that your wishes are carried out.

There are two ways to remember the Chernobyl Children’s Project in your Will:

Pecuniary Legacy - You can choose to give a gift of a fixed amount of money - this is called a pecuniary legacy.

Residuary Legacy - You can choose to leave a share, or the whole, of what is left of your estate once you have provided for your loved ones – this is called a residuary legacy.
