A special message from Adi Roche and Ali Hewson

5 Dec 2025

Dear Friends

We can never turn away from the shadow of Chernobyl; a disaster whose impact still echoes through time.

Though decades have passed, its toxic legacy continues to poison the soil, the water, the air… and the bodies of those born long after that fateful day. An invisible enemy that infiltrates every breath and every heartbeat.

Chernobyl is not a tragedy locked in the past. It is a living catastrophe one that continues to shape the lives of hundreds of thousands, especially the children who inherit its devastating effects. These are the grandchildren of Chernobyl…innocent lives facing illness, suffering, and loss before they’ve even had a chance to begin.

But their fate is not sealed.

With your compassion, we can give them hope. With your generosity, we can give them life.

As we gather with loved ones this Christmas, we are reminded that even in the darkest of times, the meaning of Christmas lies in giving, in kindness, and in our shared humanity.

By supporting CCI, you are ensuring that children who have already suffered so much can still look forward to a brighter, safer future. As we look ahead to the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster in April 2026, we remain unwavering in our mission: to protect, care for, and bring joy to the children who need us most.

This year’s drone attack of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has been a stark reminder of how fragile life is. Yet, even amid danger and disruption, our dedicated teams have continued their work, ensuring that vulnerable children receive the treatment and protection they need. But we cannot do this without you.

Your donation today — whether it’s €25, €50, €100 or whatever you can give — will help provide life-saving medicine, urgent care, and hope to the children of Chernobyl.

Every single gift, no matter the size, makes a real difference. This Christmas, please act now.

Give the most precious gift of all — the gift of life. From all of us at Chernobyl Children International, thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your belief in hope.

With Deepest Gratitude
