It is with deep sadness and with a heavy heart that we share the news of the untimely death of Anya Buglakova, who died peacefully in her sleep at home in Gomel this week, aged 13.
Anya suffered from a wide range of medical issues, including Cerebral Palsy and chronic hepatitis, which were exacerbated by a traumatic birth and subsequent bleed on the brain as a newborn.
Anya and her family were part of Chernobyl Children International’s (CCI) Hospice and Community Care Programme for the past 8 years, during which time CCI provided Anya with a psychologist, a massage therapist, physiotherapist and nursing support in the comfort of her own home.
We offer our deepest condolences to Anya’s loving parents, Marina and Dima, as well as her two siblings, Valeria and Sasha, and adoring grandparents whom we will continue to support through our bereavement and counselling services during this heart-breaking time.
Anya was beloved by all who knew her, including fellow children and families on the programme, who she met at our bi-annual Family Support Days, which she loved.
It is thanks to the generosity and continued support from our donors, that Anya’s short life was filled with dignity, moments of comfort and love as CCI provided her with the care she desperately needed. We pray that Anya will find peace with all of our other little angels.
May She Rest in Peace. Покойся с миром.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis. (May her soul rest at God’s right hand.)
