United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities

3 Dec 2021

December 3rd marks the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.  This day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities.

The global crisis of COVID-19 is deepening pre-existing inequalities, exposing the extent of exclusion, and highlighting that work on disability inclusion is imperative. People with disabilities, especially those in institutions, are always the most vulnerable in times of uncertainty. We at CCI will continue to shine a light on their plight and not let them be forgotten during this difficult time.

Our ongoing commitment to De-Institutionalisation takes us one step closer to a fully inclusive society, where people with disabilities can be recognised as equals all over the world.

CCI works in tandem with the relevant authorities in Belarus to help progress the regulation needed that will embrace the spirit and true meaning of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Specifically, our Life Skills and Restoration of Rights Programmes enable children and young adults with disabilities to realise their own potential and help them to develop the necessary tools to live a fulfilled life as a member of their communities.
