As a United Nations-accredited NGO, Chernobyl Children International (CCI) welcomes the recently agreed UN General Assembly resolution endorsing the use of the Ukrainian transliteration of “Chornobyl”, rather the “Chernobyl”.

In the spirit of this resolution, and in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, CCI will use the spelling “Chornobyl” in all future communications, publications, and public-facing materials.

While our official name, Chernobyl Children International, will remain unchanged, we are pleased to align our language with the values of respect, cultural recognition, and international cooperation that underpin our work.

This step reflects both our longstanding commitment to the communities affected by the Chornobyl disaster of 1986 and our continued belief in the power of language to affirm identity, dignity, and shared global responsibility.
